underline;\">Giardino<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>(garden), a public park on the Aventine created in 1932, provides the public with a belvedere, a panoramic view of the\u00a0City,\u00a0similar to\u00a0other such sites in the\u00a0City: the Janiculum and\u00a0Pincian\u00a0Hills and Monte Mario.\u00a0This magnificent\u00a0<strong>garden<\/strong>, named after the orange trees growing abundantly there, sits over the area of the Medieval family fortresses built here\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a09<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century\u00a0(<strong>Crescentii\u00a0family<\/strong>)\u00a0and\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a013<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0(Savelli\u00a0family).\u00a0It abuts the adjacent\u00a0Clivo\u00a0di Rocca Savella, a long, sloping walkway from the Tiber River to the top of the Aventine.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"301\" height=\"226\" src=\"https:\/\/romeguide.hcc-nd.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-903.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1083\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part of the&nbsp;<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">wall of the medieval Savelli castle<\/span>&nbsp;<\/strong>remains&nbsp;at the far end of the&nbsp;hill.&nbsp;For&nbsp;many&nbsp;years&nbsp;the&nbsp;Dominicans&nbsp;of&nbsp;Santa&nbsp;Sabina&nbsp;utilized&nbsp;the&nbsp;open space around it as their vegetable garden.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"333\" height=\"222\" (max-width: 333px) 100vw, 333px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the entrance of the park in&nbsp;<strong>Piazza Pietro&nbsp;D&#8217;Illiria,&nbsp;<\/strong>rests a&nbsp;<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">fountain<\/span>&nbsp;<\/strong>composed of two separate pieces: a Roman sarcophagus and a monumental&nbsp;marble&nbsp;mask&nbsp;originally&nbsp;set&nbsp;on&nbsp;a&nbsp;16<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;century&nbsp;fountain&nbsp;in&nbsp;the center of the&nbsp;City.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
